Procedure and Information for Job Applicants
The Application
To apply for a vacancy you may:
- apply online or
- telephone us to request forms by post.
Your application should be acknowledged within a fortnight, either in writing, electronically or verbally. If it isnt, please contact the Human Resource Section - something is wrong!
After applications close we usually shortlist the applicants, which means that we establish who were going to interview based on the information we have received in the applications. Those that we do not intend to interview will be advised.
The Interview
If you are invited to an interview, arrangements will be made with you beforehand about where and when it is. We do appreciate applicants arriving on time so that interviews are not delayed. The campus is quite large, and it can be difficult to find your way around when you first arrive, so if youre not familiar with the venue give yourself a little extra time. Use this map to identify where your interview will be. Interviews are always conducted by a panel usually consisting of at least three people.
You may choose to have a whanau interview. This provides for you to bring some of your supporters to the interview, and if you wish there may be a short ceremony. During a whanau interview your supporters may wish to speak on your behalf, which is fine, however the panel will want to talk to you for the most part. If you would like a whanau interview please let us know and we will make the necessary arrangements.
You will be contacted within a few days of the interview. Unfortunately we can employ only one person per job, so not everyone is successful. However, if you arent it may not necessarily be a reflection on your abilities, it simply means that the panel felt that someone else would be more suitable.
The Appointment
If you are successful we will arrange the starting time and other details with you, and send you a letter of appointment, a copy of which you should sign and return to indicate acceptance. Included with that letter will be some documentation for you to complete and return. The sooner you do that the sooner we can put you on the payroll. You should also receive an induction booklet which contains information about being a staff member.
