Pasifika Student Achievement
Located in the heart of the largest Pasifika population in New Zealand, the Institute continues to respond positively to the needs of our Pasifika communities in Counties Manukau by actively promoting the growth of student enrolments, retention and academic achievements by Pasifika students in all areas of studies at MIT.
In 2008, Pasifika students made up 22.7% (4,122) of the total number of students enrolled at MIT on a full time basis. This increased to 30% in 2010 (5,054) highlighting the continued growth in Pasifika students enrolments at MIT. MIT boasts the largest number of Pasifika (Pacific) students enrolled in any one tertiary institution in New Zealand.
MIT strives to ensure that Paisifika students are made to feel welcomed in an environment that celebrates cultural diversity, that provides a very high standard of academic excellence and maintenance of strong Pasifika student support networks throughout the Institutes.
