Culinary and Baking

New Zealand's chefs and cooks are spoiled for choice, with fresher-than-fresh ingredients and high-quality food products. Working in a kitchen is fast-paced, people-focused, creative and challenging.

Our culinary programmes deliver all the practical skills you need – whether that's basic food preparation, or advanced cookery and full chef training. Plus, you'll get real experience in real kitchens and MIT's fine dining training restaurant.

Baking is booming, from good old-fashioned like-mum-used-to-make baking, to spectacularly decorated cakes for special occasions. As a skilled baker you could get a slice of this action.

Our baking programmes deliver all the practical skills you need from biscuit, pastry and bread making to the fundamentals of patisserie, and are backed up with core skills in literacy, numeracy and communication. Plus you'll get experience in real kitchens and on bakery sale days.
