Te Ara Whakamana will include sessions on a wide range of issues around educational transitions. We are particularly delighted to announce two international keynotes who will provide insights into experiences and approaches from other countries:

  • Professor John Polesel of the University of Melbourne, on the Australian experience of vocational education in secondary schools
  • Dr Gary Hoachlander of ConnectEd: The California Center for College and Career, on integrating academic curriculum and practical experience within the 'Linked Learning' approach

Other topics to be covered at the forum include:

  • Vocational Pathways and Youth Guarantee
  • Lessons from research into young people’s decision-making and transition experiences
  • Examples of successfully supporting transitions for Māori and Pacific young people
  • Supporting successful transitions in STEM subjects
  • Priorities for the future
