Message from the Directors
The decision to study an MBA is an important one. The arguments in favour are compelling for those who want to enhance their workplace performance and advance their careers. The MBA programme has become almost like a passport into a career in business management.
The Southern Cross University MBA was launched in Australia in 1991. The successful programme has attracted significant enrolment levels and high-calibre candidates. Demand for the Southern Cross University MBA has led to it being offered in several locations in the Asia-Pacific region. We have established ourselves as a leader in a highly competitive market and we are confident of our programme's quality and continued success.
The Southern Cross University MBA is a 12-unit programme of study containing core units that focus on management of the major business functions and business strategy. The program is sufficiently flexible to accommodate a diversity of experience and needs. The Southern Cross University MBA offers a range of elective units, which enables specialist study in a variety of fields in addition to the management core. This feature permits each candidate to tailor a study programme to their individual needs, while maintaining the essential focus on business management, which is the hallmark of the MBA.
The traditional university model of two semesters each year, with lengthy periods in between, is not appropriate for today's busy executives. The Southern Cross University MBA uses a trimester calendar (three teaching periods each year), giving candidates the opportunity to complete the MBA in 12 months of full-time study or two to four years of part-time study.
Through this collaboration between Southern Cross University and the Manukau Institute of Technology, we also offer specialist postgraduate qualifications in international business, human resources, accounting, and sport management.
The delivery of units in each programme uses high quality study materials which are designed to emphasise the link between conceptual knowledge and real-world practice. The practical application of knowledge is a high priority of the Southern Cross University programmes.
Teaching staff from both Southern Cross University and the Faculty of Business, many with international business experience, possess an excellent balance of academic qualifications and practical business experience.
We have added convenience, flexibility, timeliness and service to the traditional masters' qualities of relevance and rigour. The package of quality materials, excellent student support, and competitive fees represents real value to those contemplating a major investment in their future. Be assured that we at the Southern Cross University in collaboration with MIT’s Faculty of Business, are committed to delivering quality outcomes that support your quest for a rewarding future in business management.
