Facilities and Software Information

One of the largest computer networks in the country

Manukau Institute of Technology's network of over 2000 computers is one of the five largest in the country. Approximately 400 of these computers are set up for students studying computer qualifications. All of our computer and IT qualifications are very "hands-on" and will see you spend considerable time in computer labs. This is the ultimate environment for learning, with data-show and whiteboard facilities, and printing (related to your course work) available at no additional cost.

Free internet and disk space

When you study with us, you'll have free internet access and a free email account. You'll also have private disk space available on network servers, so you can access your work from any station. In addition, third year students on Bachelor of Information Systems or National Diploma in Business Computing programmes, have a dedicated workstation for the duration of their project.

The latest software

All CIT workstations are installed with over 6GB of software products to support the mix of software development, multimedia and office productivity tools you'll require. We also subscribe to alliance programs with our suppliers, and these provide free use of many software products, such as Windows XP and Visual Studio, for educational purposes on home computers.

Our software covers the key market leading tools, and is revised every semester. You can expect to be exposed to at least two versions of many products during three years of study.
