Professional Development
MIT has developed a range of workshops for early childhood teachers. These practical, interactive and affordable workshops are presented by experienced facilitators /teachers. They provide opportunities for discussion and up-to date information.
If you are an early childhood teacher or just interested in learning more about early childhood then the following workshops are for you.
These workshops will be offered in 2012.
| February 23 | Mentoring Provisionally Registered Teachers. Develop skills to support provisionally registered teachers through their teacher registration process with the Registered Teacher Criteria. |
| March 21 | Social Competence. Develop strategies to guide children’s behaviour and develop their social competence. |
| April 3 | Infants and Toddlers. Provide quality infant and toddler learning experiences. |

The Learning Child. Explore the view of children as competent and confident learners and ways the environment can be optimised for learning. |
| July 21 | Creative Arts. Expand ideas and skills to provide creative arts experiences for children. |
| August | Leadership/ team building. This workshop looks at leadership theory and working within a team so everyone can develop their leadership potential. |
| September | Literacy. Key literacy concepts are considered and practical ways to build these into everyday programmes. |
| October | Giftedness. Explore the unique characteristics of gifted children and how we can identify and plan for these children. |
| November | Science and Maths. Recognise how maths and science concepts surround children and ways to promote these learning opportunities. |
