The National Certificate in Adult Literacy Education (Educator) (NCALE) programme is designed for educators who are interested in developing specialist expertise in teaching literacy and numeracy to adult learners and/or to embed literacy and numeracy into teaching of specific subjects. The programme will further your understanding of literacy and numeracy issues in New Zealand, equip you with the skills to teach and assess literacy and numeracy as well as designing and delivering literacy and numeracy plans for learners.

Entry Requirements
Applicants must meet the following entry requirements:
- Provide evidence of achievement in a programme of study at NQF Level 4 or equivalent
Applicants who do not meet the above are welcome to apply and will be interviewed.
The interview will consider academic skills and current teaching activity. The evidence of teaching activity may be provided through an attestation from the employer and
- Be recognised as an adult educator currently teaching on a programme in their own field. This assumes formal teaching qualifications such as a Certificate in Tertiary Teaching (or equivalent) and teaching experience in adult education and
- Have basic computing skills and have access to a computer with an internet connection and
- Have English language competence to undertake this programme which is taught and assessed in English.
Any applicant whose first language is not English may be required to provide evidence of an overall IELTS (Academic) band score of 6.5 (with no score below 6.5) or equivalent. Applicants who meet the entry criteria will be accepted in order of application.
