About the Programme
Get to work on your English skills
Do you need an English qualification to get the job you want? Are you an international student who wants to study in New Zealand?
These ESOL courses give you a firm grasp of English language skills, including functions, structures and vocabulary. You will become a confident speaker and listener, and develop your vocabulary. Conversation and pronunciation skills are practised in real-life situations. Plus you are provided with reading and writing practice.
You’ll also learn about living, studying and working in New Zealand.
You can study at either Otara or Newmarket.

Programme Summary
ESOL – 18 weeks full-time
Students complete the following courses:
- Reading and Writing
- Speaking and Listening.
Plus one of the following:
- Conversation and Pronunciation
- English Through the News
- Integrated Language Skills
- Living in New Zealand
- Practice for IELTS.
ESOL – Nine weeks full-time
Students complete the following courses:
- Reading and Writing
- Speaking and Listening.
Plus an option which is decided by the language level of the class.
ESOL – part-time day classes
Students choose one or two of the following:
- Conversation and Pronunciation
- English through the News
- Integrated Language Skills
- Living in New Zealand
- Practice for IELTS
- Reading and Writing
- Speaking and Listening.
ESOL – part-time evening classes (Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Otara only)
Students choose one of the following:
- General English, elementary to advanced level
- Practice for IELTS, open entry
- Reading and Writing
- Speaking and Listening.
Further Training or Study
English for Further Study (EFS) and English for Study Purposes (ESP), which prepare students for study at diploma and degree level.
