Advanced Fire Fighting
The Mate/Master Foreign Going programme is an advanced training programme. It provides specialist knowledge, plus analytical and problem solving skills necessary to allow progression to Chief mate and Master of a foreign going ship.
Topics include leading emergency parties, analysing risk and developing tactical emergency strategies, and taking overall charge during emergency operations.
These are conducted offsite. Prior to commencing these courses, you are required to hold a current medical fitness certificate. An acceptable 5-day Basic Fire Fighting course is a prerequisite for the Advanced Fire Fighting course.
Copies of both the medical and any previous Fire Certificate must be supplied to the NZ Maritime School at least 21 days prior to commencing the Advanced Fire Fighting Course.
Security passes are required for entry into the Fire Training School. Students are required to complete a Security Check form no later than 21 days before the commencement of the fire course.
