The National Certificate in Construction (Supervisors) is aimed at people currently employed in the construction industry as construction supervisors who need the formal skills and knowledge required to move into construction management. This qualification will assist students with their application for Area of Practise 1 & 2 Building Practitioner’s Licence and covers both supervisory and technical skills.
Supervisory skills include on-site construction programmes, time management, knowledge and implementation of site safety plans, communication skills related to a building site, knowledge of drawing and specifications, and the preparation of order lists. Technical skills and knowledge include demonstrating knowledge of excavations, construction methods, weather-proofing, exterior cladding, subcontractor supervision and the principles of building design.
Cross-credits may be available to students who have completed equivalent courses.
Note: The National Certificate in Construction (Supervisors) Level 5 incorporates the National Certificate in Construction (Leading Hand) Level 4 qualification.

Entry Requirements
Applicants must meet the following entry requirements:
- Successfully completed the National Certificate in Carpentry (Level 4) or
- Have a Trade Certificate in building or the construction trade or
- Have completed an approved apprenticeship (in the construction industry) or
- Have demonstrated equivalent skills as determined by MIT or
- Have completed the Leading Hand qualification (Level 4) and
- Applicants must have English language competence to undertake this programme which is taught and assessed in English
Any applicant whose first language is not English may be asked to provide evidence of an overall IELTS (Academic) band score of 6.0 (with no score below 5.5) or equivalent.
Note: Applicants outside these requirements with a minimum of seven years current trade experience are able to apply to MIT for entry into the qualification.Applicants will be accepted
