The Certificate in Fabrication Trades and Technology is for students wishing to become fabricators (sheet metal workers), welders (boiler-makers), or other such positions in the heating and ventilation industry. The programme provides students with pathways to various qualifications, and also gives the required NZQA unit standards an apprentice would normally achieve at year one of an apprenticeship.

Entry Requirements
Applicants must meet the following entry requirements:
- Be physically capable of completing the practical aspects of the programme and
- Have English language competence to undertake this programme which is taught and assessed in English.
Any applicant whose first language is not English must provide evidence of an overall IELTS (Academic) band score of 5.5 (with no score below 5.0) or equivalent and
- Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they have the attitudes and ability to work and study at the required level for the programme. This will be determined at interview.
