Secure a career in refrigeration
As a refrigeration technician or engineer you may find yourself working on an apartment building, on a ship or in a factory – every day and every job is different. The Certificate in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning will introduce you to the skills, knowledge and attributes that will lead to employment or training as a refrigeration engineer – a career with a whole range of different options.
This programme is designed to allow you to reach and be assessed for all Level 1 and Level 2 unit standards contained within the National Certificate in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (Level 4).
You’ll be ready to start work as a refrigeration technician or staircase into higher level programmes to become a qualified refrigeration engineer.
Note: There will an extra charge of $136.90 for the Electrical Appliance Serviceperson (EAS) exam and practical assessment. $50 of which is an admin fee and not loanable.

Entry Requirements
Applicants must meet the following entry requirements:
- Be physically capable of completing the practical aspects of the programme
- Have English language competence to undertake this programme which is taught and assessed in English. Any applicant whose first language is not English may be requested to provide evidence of an IELTS (Academic) band score of 5.5 with no band below 5.0 or equivalent.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they have the attitudes and ability to work and study at the level required for the programme. The above attributes may be assessed through an interview or on the application form as deemed appropriate by the School of Engineering.
