Increasing numbers of community health workers are employed in primary health care.
The Certificate in Community Health Work (Level 4) is designed to provide the practical skills and knowledge in a qualification that equips participants to work as community health workers alongside other professionals in health and social service fields, for the benefit of the health and wellbeing of families, individuals and communities.

Entry Requirements
Applicants must meet the following entry requirements:
- Be over 18 years of age at the time of the commencement of the programme
Note: In exceptional circumstances consideration will be given to those who are over 16 years of age who have relevant work/life experience. These applicants must demonstrate appropriate support and attestation from a senior member of their community regarding their likelihood to succeed and suitability for the role. Attestations from teachers will also be considered. - Make confidential disclosure of criminal convictions
Note: A criminal record will not automatically exclude an applicant from entry to the programme, however crimes against another person will be taken very seriously. Factors taken into account will include: seriousness of the offence, the age at which it was committed, the length of time since it was committed, letters of support from community agencies/organisations. Where applicants declare a criminal conviction the final decision regarding entry to the programme will be made by the Dean of Faculty. Applicants have the right to appeal this decision to the Dean of Faculty. Disclosure of criminal convictions will be made to work placements if police screening is required by the agency’s policy. - Have English language competence to undertake this programme which is taught and assessed in English. Any applicant whose first language is not English may be required to provide evidence of an overall IELTS (Academic) band score of 6.5 (and 6.5 in listening and speaking bands) or equivalent.

- Demonstrate a reasonable likelihood of success on the programme
The above attributes will be assessed through an interview process. All applicants will be interviewed.
