About the Programme
The Diploma in Health Promotion (Level 6) is a 120 credit programme that prepares students to work as a Health Promoter across diverse communities and settings. It has been developed by MIT with support from the Ministry of Health. Study groups and personal support are embedded in the programme to support the many diverse learning styles of students.

Entry Requirements
Applicants must meet the following entry requirements:
- NCEA L2 English 8 credits or equivalent qualification or
- Successful completion of the MIT Certificate in Community Health Work (Level 4), or equivalent programme or
- Successful completion of the MIT Certificate in Pacific Community Health Work (Level 4), or equivalent programme and
- Have English language competence to undertake this programme. An applicant whose first language is not English, or who comes from a country where the general language of instruction in schools is other than English, shall produce evidence to the Entry Committee of having passed the Academic IELTS with an overall score of 6.0 (with no one score lower than 6.0) or equivalent and
- Make confidential disclosure of criminal convictions.
Note: A criminal record will not automatically exclude an applicant from entry to the programme, however crimes against another person will be taken very seriously. Factors taken into account will include: - seriousness of the offence - the age at which it was committed - the length of time since it was committed - letters of support from community agencies/organisations Where applicants declare a criminal conviction the final decision regarding entry to the programme will be made by the Programme Leader. Students have the right to appeal this decision to the Head of Department. Disclosure of criminal convictions will be made to Work Placements if Police screening is required by the agency’s policy.

Be able to demonstrate that they:
- Are motivated to work in the industry.
- Are familiar with Microsoft packages (i.e. internet, Word, email). Applicants may be referred to FreeB courses.
This will be determined through specific questions and the applicant's declaration on the application form.
Applicants will be selected in order of successful application. In the case of over subscription, students will be placed on a waiting list in order of acceptance. In the case of under subscription, the department reserves the right not to run any given course
