Employment Skills English is a Foundation-Focussed Training Opportunities programme for motivated unemployed job seekers from non-English speaking backgrounds. Application is by interview each Tuesday of term time, 8.00am to 10.00am in Q Block, behind McDonalds Restaurant, Otara Town Centre, East Tamaki Road.

Entry Requirements
Training Opportunities entry criteria apply. Generally, Training Opportunities programmes are restricted to people who are either recent school leavers or people who are registered as job seekers with Work and Income New Zealand (WINZ). A small number of places are reserved for 16 and 17 year olds.

Applicants must demonstrate a strong wish to move into employment or appropriate further training.

Free. This programme is funded by the Tertiary Education Commission.

- Strategies to gain and retain employment
- Language, literacy and numeracy skills in an employment context
- Skills required in workplace settings
- Health and safety in the workplace
- Basic computer skills
- Work experience placement (one day per week)

Career Opportunities
Participants are expected to move into employment or further education within 3 months of completing the programme.
