Pathways to Tertiary Education is a preparation programme that is delivered at Manurewa and Panmure through a partnership with the Solomon Group. It provides students with the skills and qualifications necessary to enter MIT courses.

Entry Requirements

Applicants are interviewed and complete School of Foundation Studies diagnostic assessments in communication skills and mathematics. The purpose of the assessments is to ensure that courses are available to suit the developmental needs of the applicants.

There is a standard interviewing procedure and applicants are accepted onto the course subject to:

  • Evidence of motivation to work hard
  • The ability to articulate some sense of direction/desire for a career
  • Courses being available to meet the applicant’s learning needs.

Applicants who meet the entry requirements are offered places on the programme as they become available. Where the programme is over-subscribed, accepted students are wait-listed in order of receipt of their application.

Cost

Free to eligible applicants. The programme is funded by the Tertiary Education Commission. Other applicants $500 (approx).
