Entry Requirements
Applicants must meet the following entry requirements:
- Be 18 years of age or older
Note: Applicants below the age of 18 who are already employed (in a paid or voluntary capacity) in a social service context will be accepted on receipt of a recommendation from their employer and after consideration by the School of Social Sciences Programme Committee and
- Applicants must be able to provide evidence of achievement of a minimum of 8 credits in NCEA Level 1 English (i.e. 4 credits in writing and 4 credits in reading) or equivalent. Applicants who cannot provide an equivalent will be asked to undergo a literacy diagnostic to assess their ability to study on this programme and
- Applicants whose first language is not English may be required to provide evidence of an overall IELTS (Academic) band score of 6.0 with no score below 5.5 or equivalent.
Note: There are many applicants for whom English is their first language who do not have NCEA credits or equivalent. These applicants will be asked to undergo the literacy diagnostic. Applicants who do not meet the required level of literacy will be referred to the School of Foundation Studies.
