Take on a Modern Apprentice
Modern Apprenticeships combines the best of apprenticeship traditions with some fresh thinking. The biggest difference is the level of support available to participating employers.
You and your apprentice will be assigned your own Manukau Institute of Technology Modern Apprenticeships co-ordinator who will actively support you and your apprentice for the duration of the apprenticeship.
The Benefits
Modern Apprenticeships is designed to remove the hassles that have prevented employers taking on and training young people in the past.
Your Modern Apprenticeships co-ordinator will:
- Assist you (if necessary*) to find a motivated Modern Apprentice to meet your requirements.
- Handle the administration and paperwork associated with signing the apprentice into the apprenticeship and the training saving you time, reducing your costs and keeping the training hassle-free.
- Work with you and your apprentice to develop a personal training plan for your apprentice.
- Regularly visit you and your apprentice to review your apprentice's progress against key milestones in the training plan and ensure that everything is going smoothly.
- Advise and help with any issues either you or your apprentices may have about training.
Your Modern Apprenticeship co-ordinator knows your industry and will work with your Industry Training Organisation to register the training agreement, and facilitate training arrangements.
All these services are provided to you free of charge.

* You may also sign existing employees into a Modern Apprenticeship provided they meet the eligibility criteria and are not already signed into an apprenticeship with an ITO for the same qualification.
