Manukau Institute of Technology's Centre for Assessment of Prior Learning is leading the way in innovative assessment approaches.
Our assessment methods demonstrate our com-mitment to innovation in tertiary education, allowing applicants to realise their educational goals through a facilitated process. In this process, knowledge acquired through formal and experiential learning is recognised and assessed.
We understand the value of an individual past learning experiences which can provide a pathway for people to gain a qualification. Many people have several years of work experience, but have not completed formal education programmes.
Our process provides for cross credit and the opportunity for students to prove their experiential learning towards the requirements of a qualifica-tion.
The process allows candidates to complete their qualification requirements through the following methods:
- Cross credits of previous courses completed relevant to the qualification
- Prior Learning Assessments through profes-sional conversation or portfolio submission
- Workplace Assessments and attestation
