The Learning Support Centre is here to help you succeed. It is free for MIT students and includes assistance with:

- Computing
- English language
- Mathematics
- Providing peer tutor support
Academic Study Skills
The Learning Support Centre offers a wide range of services to help you thrive in the academic environment of MIT. We offer one-to-one sessions for one hour that focus on what you are learning, and how you are learning. We have highly qualified staff to assist you make your goals a reality.
We provide support through 1:1 individual sessions, small study groups and facilitated workshops. We are friendly and approachable. Helping you achieve your academic goals is our priority.
Computing
We can help you to develop your computing skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Access and familiarising yourselves with research tools such as use of the internet and library database.
English Language
Highly qualified staff are here to assist in building your language skills so you are better able to succeed in your courses. We offer one-to-one language advisory, conversation groups and independent learning opportunities. There is a wide range of books, tapes, computer programmes, video tapes and course books all to help you with different learning needs.
The language advisory service offers 45 minute appointments where the advisors will help you design your own individual learning plan.
Mathematics
There are maths specialists available for one-to-one support in any area of maths from basics to advanced. There are also resources available to help you work independently on your maths skills.
Providing peer tutor support
Peer tutors are employed by the Learning Support Centre to help students that require assistance with course content and specialised fields of study. These tutors have been particularly successful in their studies and are able to offer a student focused perspective on what is required for your course.
We also have handouts and an interactive software program located on our computers that you are able to use at your own pace and in your own time.
Independent Learning
Although there are always highly qualified advisors available for appointments, there is also the opportunity for independent learning to take place at the Learning Support Centre.
With a huge range of resources that is constantly being developed and updated, the staff can guide you to find resources that will allow you work on your own.
