Samoa Music Awards

Winners of the Inaugural Samoa Music Awards were congratulated by deputy Prime Minister, Misa Telefoni.

Held at Faleata’s Gym One, Misa, who is also the Minister of Tourism, said he was privileged to have opened the awards.

He congratulated Michael Hickey Events, the Promoters, SamoaTel and all the sponsors, and all those musicians and composers who performed and also won awards on the night.  The awards had an international flavour with high profile performers such as Tofiga Fepuleai, Lapi Mariner, Adeaze, Cydel and Allegro.

“Tonight we celebrate music. Not just musicians but composers, producers, and the entire music industry,” he said. Misa was particularly proud, on behalf of the Ah Mu and Rivers’ families, to accept the Le Vai Lifetime Achievement Award on behalf of the late Mavis Rivers. “In particular I am proud to receive this award on behalf of Mavis’ son Matt Catingub, a world renowned musician, and conductor of the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra.” Misa thanked Fatima Strickland and Le Vai for this Award. He urged Maposua Rudolf Keil, Corey Keil, Molioo Sumeo, 2AP, and all our broadcasters to play more of Mavis Rivers’ Music.
