Teaching Areas

New Zealand Certificate  in Hairdressing (Salon Support) Level 3 and New Zealand Certificate in Hairdressing (Emerging Stylist) Level 4.


  • Completed an apprenticeship at Michaels of Takapuna salon
  • Became an Educator for Schwarzkopf NZ with the territory of Kaitaia to Invercargill for 4 years teaching and holding seminars for between 20 to 200 hairdressers.  Then progressed to Technical Manager for another 2 years.
  • This allowed me to travel extensively not just throughout NZ but through the Pacific – USA and Europe representing Schwarzkopf.  An experience of a life time
  • I then did my big OE and worked my way through Europe and the Mediterranean for 6 years. Hairdressing in some of the more exclusive salons and also on the beach on a  Greek Island where I lived.
  • Back in New Zealand I was offered a position at MIT as a hair dressing lecturer which I did for 5 years till my daughter was born.
  • I then bought a salon and built a second one all in the space of a year.
  • 2 salons and 15 staff was great for 8 years then decided that it was time to teach again so after being offered a position I re-joined MIT Hairdressing Department in Consumer Services this is where I still am today.
  • I have recently completed my Advanced Cutting Qualification Level 5 which led to a 3 page article being published In the FORMA magazine, including photos of my work, which I am very proud of.
  • The highlight of my career as a hairdresser and a lecturer is every day, as it is never boring and forever changing.

Why I love MIT

I love the team work. The support as a lecturer and the support that the students receive to achieve in our faculty. MIT offers students every backing to help them achieve their goals.
