MIT TechPark continues award winning run

Manukau Institute of Technology congratulates ASC Architects for its success at the New Zealand Commercial Project Awards.

National and Gold medals in the Construction Marketing Education Services Project category of the awards is the third time MIT Tech Park has been recognised at a major event since launching in April 2021.

“TechPark is an outstanding example of clarity of educational purpose and design,” the citation noted. “Because each of these spaces has an extensive and technical build, incredible skill and communication was needed by all parties to deliver the final product. All of this was successfully delivered to a tight timeframe in the middle of a global pandemic, on time and on budget.”

“The judges have recognised something our students of trades and engineering get to experience every day,” says MIT and Unitec chief executive Gus Gilmore.

“Our partners and staff who created Tech Park have built a modern, inspiring learning environment to train the construction and infrastructure workforce of the future,” he says.

The facility was delivered through a partnership between MIT, Eke Panuku Development Auckland and developer, builder and owner Haydn & Rollett.

Previously, Tech Park has won the New Construction / Entire New Educational Facility category of the Learning Environments Australasia Awards and an Excellence Award in the Education Property Award section of the NZ Property Council Awards.

More than two thousand learners use TechPark each week studying professional engineering, carpentry, plumbing, gas fitting, electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, automotive, fabrication, civil and landscape construction.
