Toleafoa Dr Yvonne Ualesi

Yvonne made a career transition and embarked on her teaching journey over a decade ago. She started her training here at the MIT campus through the University of Auckland in Ōtara, the suburb where she was born and raised. In fact over 50 years later the original family home is still located just down the road from MIT. As a young woman with a rich mix of Samoan, Tokelauan and Fijian heritage she always had a passion and desire to become a teacher and see transformative change in her community.

I love MIT because it is located in the heart of South Auckland where real people care about others.
