Recognition of Prior Learning Programme
Your work experience or previous tertiary study may count towards achieving your qualification. Our Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) programme is designed for those who already have the on-the-job skills and knowledge, but want to take their career to the next level with a qualification.
With RPL we can measure and match your existing skills against credits in our courses – creating a tailored path of study that will not only save you money, but also help you to complete your qualification faster.
To learn more about what our programmes can offer you, view our available programmes by subject area, or make an appointment to speak with one of our RPL facilitators by phoning 0800 62 62 52 (or email firstname.lastname@example.org).
Why choose MIT?
New ‘quarters’ optimise your study time and support your success.
How does twice as much time to focus on half the amount of papers and no exams sound?
In 2017, the Faculty of Business and Information Technology will be introducing a new optimised teaching format we’re calling ‘quarters’. This means that if you are a full-time student, you will study two courses per quarter instead of four courses per semester. If you are part-time studying two papers, you will do one per quarter. If you are studying one or three courses, you will have a choice on how you spread your enrolment throughout the year.
In short, you will double the class time per week for half the courses in any one quarter. There is no change in the overall learning hours or credits for each course. If you’re a part-time student this will also give you more flexibility and help you finish your qualification faster than before.
Extensive international research and our own experience confirms that this format leads to more students passing with better grades. This is because more students make it to the end of the course, less subjects need to be concentrated on at any one time and there are fewer assessments to complete at any one time. Even better, there will no longer be any exams. Some courses may still have smaller tests along the way, but none will have the traditional long final exam. Other assessments and industry projects will be tailored to suit this new optimised system as well. It doesn’t affect student loans or allowances in any way and allows you to start at any one of five times a year if you also do our summer school.
At MIT, our focus is to help you develop the skills and knowledge you need either to get a job or advance your career.
We work closely with industry to offer programmes of study that meet job-market needs. We also have a number of initiatives to support graduate job-seekers, such as industry projects in real businesses, and globally-recognised qualifications. We structure our programmes carefully to enable you to move straight from study to work. Our aim is to get you into a job that puts you on the path to achieving your goals.
We also provide flexible learning options to suit your lifestyle and career aspirations. Whatever your education or work history, you can enter at a level that suits your specific needs. You will find certificates, diplomas, degrees and post-graduate options, with both part-time and full-time study that can fit around your work or family commitments. We teach all of our practical programmes at MIT Manukau, our easily accessible, purpose-built campus located right in the heart of Manukau.
Most of all, our teaching staff in the Faculty of Business and Information Technology are passionate about helping students reach their full potential. Classes are small, you are known by name, and our staff work closely with you to help you achieve success.
