Industry experience

Dr Vuong joined Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT) in July 2015. Before joining MIT Manukau, Dr Vuong worked as a Product Design Engineer at Fisher & Paykel Appliances Ltd, Collaborative Researcher at Fisher & Paykel Healthcare Ltd. He was responsible for several projects such as “AquaSmart” Washing Machine Development, Front Loaded “Seuss” Washing Machine Development, Developing a Mathematical Model to predict the “Hunting & Beating” phenomenon in the Washing Machine, Improving the Suspension System & Water Balancing System in the Washing Machine, and Noise Reduction in the Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) devices. He was a member of the patent  “ Spiral Clutch System in Washing Machine”.

Dr Vuong also worked as a Research & Teaching Assistant at Institute of Biomedical Technologies (IBTec), AUT University since 2003. He taught Advanced Measuring Systems, Advanced Control Systems, and Solid Mechanics for both under and post-graduate levels.

Dr Vuong specialises in mechanical product design, Advanced Computer Modelling and Simulation.  He is an expert in Noise & Vibration Modelling and Simulation. He is driven to turn ideas into real product outcomes and is always looking for a challenge.

Dr Vuong always tries to bring industrial experiences to the classroom to help students well-equipped before they could join the workforce. He is enthusiastic in research-informed teaching to help students develop critical thinking ability. He also works actively with industrial partners to provide students with practical research projects.
