First Aid

MIT Manukau offers three First Aid certificate courses:

  • Workplace First Aid Certificate
  • Comprehensive First Aid Certificate
  • First Aid Refresher

These certificate courses meet strict educational and industry standards and are taught by experienced trainers (most of whom are registered nurses). You can rest assured that the knowledge you receive will be valuable in critical situations. The equipment used for demonstrations is of high quality and carefully prepared by our technicians. Our courses teach participants how to identify and eliminate hazards, assess a casualty and provide help in life threatening conditions. At the end of the course, you will receive a First Aid certificate acknowledging your completion of the course and any unit standards achieved.

The majority of each course is practical and involves group participation. Therefore you must have the ability to partake fully in CPR and will need to demonstrate to the tutor that you are able to perform set first aid tasks such as performing cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).  The course and assessments are conducted in English. Normally, to receive a certificate and / or the relevant unit standards you are required to pass any written, verbal and practical assessments in English.
