Basic Gas Tanker

Who should attend

All seafarers who intend to find employment as masters, officers or ratings on liquefied gas tankers.

Course highlights

This course is designed to provide students with training in liquefied gas tanker cargo operations, including handling and characteristics of gas cargoes and safety procedures. Participants will be able to serve on liquefied gas tankers and be assigned specific duties and responsibilities related to cargo or cargo equipment.

This course meets the requirements of STCW Section A-V/1-2.1 and Table A-V/1-2.1.

Entry requirements

This course meets the requirements* of MaritimeNZ for the issuing of an endorsement to student’s certificate of competency (officers and ratings), or a MaritimeNZ certificate of proficiency for non-certificated ratings.

*To be eligible for the MNZ endorsement or COP the student must have evidence of having completed the STCW Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (basic) course and the STCW Advanced Fire Fighting course.
