Technicians and engineers seeking to update current knowledge.

Participants will need to have completed PLC Programming 1 or have an equivalent level of experience.

Note: You must be able to demonstrate competence with the English language. For international students, suitable evidence could be a score of 6 on IELTS, or the MIT English language test, or equivalent.

Course structure

  • Data types and tags.
  • Indirect addressing, step control, array manipulation and testing.
  • Maths functions.
  • Data communication protocols.
  • Function Charts to IEC 848 Standard.
  • PID function block control and trending.
  • Data communication systems for simple fieldbus systems.
  • Commonly used sensors and their interfacing.
  • Touch screens and their interfacing.

Typical industrial projects form approximately one third of the coursework.
