So you're ready to become a student at Manukau Institute of Technology – we look forward to welcoming you! Just follow the simple steps below, and if you need assistance, our Information Centre or departmental staff will be happy to help.
Please note that if you are an international student, please contact our International Centre for help with the application process.
How to apply
1. Complete the application process by filling out the online form (one form applies for all student types)
2. We will acknowledge receipt of your application and may invite you, if necessary, to attend an interview for your chosen programme.
Please note that if you are applying to become a full time student, you must provide proof of New Zealand citizenship or residency. You can use either your birth certificate or passport for this.
Certifying your documentation
As part of the application and enrolment process you will need to have certain documents certified by a Justice of the Peace (JP).
To find a JP in your local area, visit the website of the Royal Federation of New Zealand Justice's Associations Inc.
If applicants do not feel they have been treated fairly by being declined entry to the programme of their choice, they may appeal in writing to the relevant programme leader within 10 working days of the date on the decline letter, stating the reasons why they think they have been unfairly declined.
How to enrol
If you have been successful in your application to study with us, we will send you a Student Registration and Enrolment form. Please complete this and return to us by email, post or in person.
If you will be studying full time, please ensure you provide proof of your New Zealand citizenship or residency. You can use either your birth certificate or passport for this.
As a student enrolling at Manukau Institute of Technology, you are required to sign a declaration which is incorporated in the Student Registration and Enrolment Form. Find out more about the student declaration form.
Paying your fees
You must pay your fees before you can attend any class. This means that fees should be paid in full or arrangements made for payment. If you are wanting to make arrangements to pay your fees, such as apply for a student loan or get approval to pay by instalment, this must be done before your programme starts.
For further details on paying your fees, please visit our fees and study costs page.
Cancellation of course
Manukau Institute of Technology reserves the right to cancel courses that have insufficient enrolments. If a course is postponed or cancelled for any reason, students' fees will be refunded in full or transferred towards another course.
