Why is Logistics so important?
Careful management is vital to avoid shortages of a particular object, to minimise transportation costs, storage costs and the length of time an item is stored. Whether it is the purchasing, transportation or storage of goods, logistics plays a major part in any company management. back

Where is the Centre for Logistics located?
The Centre is based within the New Zealand Maritime School , which is located at 132-138 Quay Street , Cnr Commerce and Quay, Auckland City. See our Location map. back

Am I eligible for loans or allowances?
Students attending any of the full time logistics programmes are eligible for loans. While the programmes are also approved for allowances students are considered depending on their individual circumstances so should check with Studylink on www.studylink.govt.nz or call 0800 88 99 00 to determine whether they qualify for an allowance. back

Does the programme include work experience?
The one semester programme does not include placing students in work places but does include field trips which look at all aspects of logistics. back

What sort of job can I get once I graduate?
Typically you will find work with Importers, Exporters, Freight Forwarders, Road Transport Operators, Container Depots, Warehouse Operators and Logistics Providers. back

How do I apply?
If you wish to attend the full time course you should send an application form to the Manukau Institute of Technology Centre for Logistics, Private Bag 92068, Auckland Mail Centre and if you wish to study part time you should forward your application to Manukau Institute of Technology Short Courses, Freepost 4, Manukau Institute of Technology, Private Bag 94006, Manukau City . Applications are then considered and if you are considered suitable and meet the entry criteria you will be contacted to come in for an interview. You will be advised shortly after the interview by mail as to whether you have been accepted and an enrolment form will be sent to you at this time. Your enrolment is not complete until we have received a completed enrolment form from you with a copy of your passport or birth certificate (NZ birth certificates only). Payment is due on the first day of the course. back

How many people will be in each class?
Normally classes will be made up of up to 25 students. back

What kind of assessments do I have to do?
Assessments will take the form of tests in class, assignments and a final exam. back
