An integrated collaborative learning model: A “good fit” for applied business education
Abstract: This paper outlines an integrated collaborative learning model that has been developed as a “good fit” for applied business education. The model addresses the issues that are inherent with applied business education presenting a unique approach to the teaching and learning process encapsulating broad principles as appears in current literature on the topic. The model developed comprises four components: Integrated learning using one case study for two courses, collaboration using business to education (B2E) and education to business (E2B) principles, flexibility in the learning environment and comprehensive student support through mentoring and StudentNet – a course management tool. The paper concludes with a critique of the model from the perspective of the various stakeholders with a comment on future directions.
