Biography

Christine Tan attained her Doctor of Philosophy in Knowledge Management at the University of Science, Malaysia and Master of Science majoring in Information Technology from The Northern University of Malaysia. Before that, she attained her Bachelor of Information Technology, majoring in Information Technology Management, from Multimedia University, Malaysia. She mainly teaches data analytics courses, including advanced data analytics, data analytics and intelligence, data warehousing, and big data.

Apart from teaching, she is an avid researcher. Her current research interest includes Knowledge Management (KM), specifically in Knowledge Sharing (KS), big data analytics, and machine learning. Her other research interest includes electronic business, specifically in e-commerce, e-banking, e-tailing, and e-payment; marketing, specifically in consumer behaviour, service quality, web-based marketing, and green marketing.

Christine has published in ISI and Scopus-indexed journals (Google Scholar). She is also currently serving as editor in the Interdisciplinary Journal of Information, Knowledge, and Management (IJIKM), whereby she has been honoured with the ISI Editor of the Month Award. In addition, Christine has been commended as an excellent constructive reviewer at several renowned conferences. She is a committee member of several international conferences and presented numerous papers at conferences, in which she has won a “Best Paper” award.

Christine is actively involved in research funding. Currently, she is pursuing a research project titled “Supporting Youth’s Mental Health Crisis in Aotearoa, New Zealand”. Her other project titles are “Overcoming Poor Research Productivity in Malaysian Universities: A University Knowledge Sharing Protocol (UKSP)”, “Assessing Socio-Psychological Behaviours of Muslim Students: A Study of Smartphone Addiction at Multimedia University”, “Classifying and Investigating Consumer’s Purchase of Energy-efficient Appliances”, and “Enhance the Adoption of Lifelong Learning through Gamification for B40 Malaysia”.

Being an academic with a strong mindset that one should “never stop learning”, Christine earned her Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching (Level 5) in 17 weeks, consisting of 7 papers with 64 credits from the Southern Institute of Technology while juggling teaching, research, and administrative duties. As a person who believes in a well-balanced life, Christine enjoys spending time with her family and travelling to new places.
