Md Akbar Hossain received his Ph.D. from the School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences at Auckland University of Technology, Auckland, New Zealand.
He is currently working as a senior lecturer at Manukau Institute of Technology Ltd. Previously, he achieved an MSc in Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Trento, Italy. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electrical Engineering from the Islamic University of Technology, Bangladesh.
In between his Masters and PhD studies, he was awarded the prestigious Marie Curie Early Stage Research fellowship to work as a researcher in the different European Union (EU) funded projects in Germany and Greece. His area of research is wireless networks, the internet of things, and cognitive radio ad-hoc networks. His current research project includes D2D (device to device) communication for post-disaster communication, a technology-assisted medical emergency support system, and cognitive internet of things Smartlife solutions.
He served as a TPC (Transmission Control Protocol) member for many international conferences and a reviewer for several IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) transactions. He currently serves as a lead guest editor for EURASIP Journal of Wireless Communication and Networking for a special issue on cognitive UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) in critical missions: IoT-based applications, protocols, and deployments and associate editor for international journal of computers and applications.
