Biography

Ray was born in Hong Kong and decided to move to New Zealand after his honeymoon trip in 2015. He is a registered social worker (New Zealand). He received his Master’s Degree in Social Work (Professional) from the University of Auckland, a Master’s Degree in Counselling from the University of Hong Kong, and a Bachelor's degree in Counselling and Psychology from the Hong Kong Shue Yan University.

Before coming to New Zealand, Ray worked as a school counsellor in secondary school. After work, he actively engaged with different non-government organisations (NGOs) to provide free/affordable counselling services to individuals and families with low socio-economic status backgrounds.

After moving to NZ, Ray worked in different NGOs as a social worker and a family counsellor. He is particularly passionate about supporting the Asian community and has helped to establish and build new networks to connect Asian families to the wider society.

With more than 15 years of experience working with families and couples in the community and education sector, he loves sharing his knowledge and experience with others. Ray joined MIT in August 2021 to continue sharing his passion in teaching and counselling.
