The Council of Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT) has announced that current Chief Executive, Dr Peter Brothers, is stepping down from his role.
Dr Peter Brothers has been Chief Executive at MIT for nine years. He joined MIT in 2007, after nine years as Dean of the School of Engineering at the University of Auckland. His earlier career included 20 years in the United States of America where he was involved in university research and teaching, as well as senior management roles with industry.
He says, “I have decided that it is time of me to move on and seek new challenges. It is something I have done about once a decade in my career; it comes from a desire to reinvigorate myself by moving into a new sphere.”
“The financial results from last year show that MIT is performing well in terms of balance sheet and operating surplus; and our education results have shown good improvement for two years in a row. MIT is in good shape and I think this is now a good time to go.”
The MIT Council has begun its search for a new Chief Executive, and Dr Brothers will be leaving on 8 July 2016.
