Qualifications
Ann Marie is an American-Kiwi who has lived and practiced professionally in New Zealand for over 20 years, in addition to her work overseas.
Ann Marie brings extensive experience in counselling, mental health, education, supervision, and community-based practice. Most recently, she has been working as a Senior Mental Health Specialist and Neurodiversity Specialist at Auckland University of Technology (AUT), supporting students through counselling, assessment, crisis management, supervision, and psychoeducational initiatives.
In addition to her work in tertiary education, Ann Marie has maintained a long-standing private practice as a mental health clinic co-owner, therapist, clinical supervisor, child and family counsellor, with particular expertise in neurodiversity, mental health, creative arts therapy and systemic approaches to practice. She is also an experienced educator, presenter, and facilitator, having delivered professional development nationally and internationally on a range of counselling and mental health topics.

MIT is comprised of so many students and staff of varied expertise, interests, cultures and backgrounds.
I find working with a multi-disciplinary lecturing team to be incredibly stimulating and resourceful. This means when offering education to our MIT students, our staff are more passionate and willing to promote the most current therapeutic and counselling practices because they continue to practice in their modalities in real world situations.
Students at MIT are from diverse backgrounds, various developmental stages and life experiences – which only adds to the depth of what can be experience and offer in our classrooms!
