Why I love MIT

SSTS (MIT) is an easy place to love. So much so that I plan to retire from here. Why do I love it? There’s a long list but some main reasons are:

  1. The small class sizes makes for developing strong rapport with students and you can do a lot of one-on-one work with them.
  2. A supportive teaching environment – there’s no limit if you’re wanting to do extra things, such as previously, I created a Siva (Samoan dance) group, I helped to run the Student Council, I helped run the school ball. I like to be fully involved in a school and SLT always supports things that I propose(d), I value that.
  3. Culture– I can be who I am here. I recently helped to run activities for Samoan Language Week and SLT was very supported and even joined in.  As a Polynesian, it’s really important that our culture is recognised and it is at MIT. I appreciate that very much.
