Biography:

  • Have always worked in the customer service industry.
  • I was a flight attendant with Air New Zealand for 18 years.
  • I visited many different countries, met wonderful people and learnt so much about different cultures and customs.
  • During my flying career, I had the pleasure of staying at hotels and experiencing fine dining and excellent customer service.
  • I also met my wonderful husband who has been flying now for 32 years and he is a great supporter of MIT visiting as a guest speaker in the tourism and hospitality fields.
  • I left flying to start a family, my focus changed to education as I became involved with the fundraising and building of a new kindergarten for my son to attend,
  • I then was given the opportunity to work in a casual role at MIT in tourism and hospitality.
  • I wanted to make a difference in young people's lives.
  • I completed my Bachelor in Applied Management (Food and Beverage) and my Teaching Diploma.
  • Here I am, now 18 years on still enjoying my teaching.

Why I love MIT:

Making a difference in people's lives!  When I think of the first day that I meet the student in O week and then see the changes in their appearance such as pride in themselves in either chef or front of house uniform.
