Biography

Nicola has been teaching in the logistics team since 2008. She shows her passion for her topics in the way she imparts information and this reflects in the outcomes she achieves with her students.

Nicola was admitted to the Bar, High Court of New Zealand January 2002.

Nicola teaches a section within the Diploma in Nautical – Foreign Going (Level 7) programme on marine insurance which covers hull policies, salvage and general average claims. With the recent incident of the Ever Given, one of the world’s largest container ships becoming wedged across the Suez Canal stalling global trade this is a very topical subject.

Why I love MIT

I am passionate about my students and love teaching all of my topics. Each topic is relevant to our students when they head out into the workplace at the end of their studies. Seeing the smiles on their faces at Graduation makes it all worthwhile!

Industry activities

Nicola is the Minister of Site Visits and organises trips with students to local freight forwarders’ premises, the port at Tauranga, kiwifruit and onion packing sheds, the Chelsea Sugar factory and the steel mill at Glenbrook amongst other places.
