Our orientations are a range of awesome events designed to give you the best possible start and welcome to MIT.
From your pōwhiri/whakatau, to onboarding and tech ready sessions, to meeting other new students and MIT staff, we're here to welcome you into the MIT family.
Pōwhiri and onboarding sessions
We warmly invite our new students to attend the pōwhiri and onboarding sessions. These are events not to be missed and are here to help prepare you for your time at MIT and to make sure you're study ready for day one.
We look forward to welcoming you into the MIT family and being there for you throughout your study journey.

Event photography and video notification
Please be advised that photos and videos will be taken during the powhiri, onboarding and orientation event for possible inclusion in media and printed material. By remaining in the immediate vicinity of the event, you are giving Manukau Institute of Technology your consent to photograph and record your picture, likeness, voice and statements.
If you wish to not be included in the photos or video, please see one of our event team on the day so we can ensure you are not included.
Starting study at MIT
Pōwhiri and official welcome
You will be welcomed with a traditional Maori pōwhiri or “Welcome” as you start your study journey with MIT. Pōwhiri are usually held at Ngā Kete Wānanga Marae, NC Block, Gate 12, Otara Road, however pōwhiri/whakatau may be held at our other campuses.
