Our Disability Support Services are here to support you get the full benefits of studying at MIT. We strive to make our campuses more welcoming, accessible and inclusive for students with impairments to support their participation and achievement goals.
Services we offer to enrolled students may include:
- Exam adjustments
- Screening for Dyslexia/Dyscalculia
- Screening for Irlens Syndrome
- New Zealand Sign Language Interpreters
- Adaptive technology such as digital recorders, specific software.
Please be aware the above services are an indication only and specific supports will be discussed at initial meeting with disability staff.
All students with disabilities/impairments are encouraged to contact Disability Support for further information before commencing study. This is to ensure a wraparound of your support needs are in place as required.

Scholarships for students with disabilities
MIT offers the Papali’itele Tanumafili (Tanu) Toso Memorial Scholarship for students with Impairments.
This scholarship is awarded in partnership between Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT) and Auckland Council and has been created in memory of Tanu Toso to recognise his contribution in advocating on behalf of people with disabilities, to assist a student with a disability with their study. The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage and assist a student with a disability to pursue their education goals.
The scholarship is worth up to $2,000 which will be in the form of a fees credit for study at Manukau Institute of Technology in 2020.
Applicants must have submitted their fully completed application by:
- For Semester One study: 6 March 2020
- For Semester Two study: 7 August 2020
