Pacific languages have a very important place in New Zealand not only for Pacific people but also for people who work professionally with Pacific peoples and who want to improve their communication with their clients. 

This programme in Gagana Samoa (the Samoan language) will develop your skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing, and will also put this language in its cultural context.

For Samoan people who were raised in New Zealand, this is a chance to increase fluency in your language and learn more about your culture.

This programme is aimed at students who have an intermediate understanding of the Samoan language and who wish to develop these skills further.

International students will generally be required to provide evidence of English language proficiency, for this programme an IELTS General or Academic score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5 is required. Learn to apply respectful terms in Samoa language to close surroundings.

830.403 My family (Samoa) (15 credits)

Learn to apply formal language in Samoa in family contexts.

830.404 My community (Samoa) (15 credits)

Learn to apply formal language to different communities.

830.405 Culture (Samoa) (15 credits)

Learn to develop and apply a deeper understanding of the Samoa language and culture.
