Tamara-Jane Anderson (Moata’a and Taufusi) and her ‘aiga left New Zealand for Queensland when she was five year’s old. Now she’s returning to Tāmaki Makaurau to play professional netball and take up a place in Manukau Institute of Technology’s Bachelor of Nursing – Pacific programme.
New pilot Hospitality programme for students with disabilities
Five students from Rescare Home Trust, the residential community for people with an intellectual disability, are joining our Level 2 Certificate in Hospitality programme this year as part of a pilot programme to give greater access to students with disabilities. School of Hospitality lecturer Dell Griffin, who developed the pilot initiative, met up with the five students at Pakuranga-based Te Tuhi Café in December last year, along with School of Maritime lecturer and co-ordinator for the School of Hospitality, Sandra Pearce.

A taste of Equine Therapy for our Bachelor of Counselling ākonga
This is the second time miniature horses have been brought onto the Ōtara campus for our students to get an understanding of Equine Therapy. Equine Therapy is a specialist form of therapy popular in the United States, using the Eagala system - a global standard in Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy, and has some established roots in New Zealand.
