Biography

Elda was born and completed her schooling in Cape Town, South Africa. After completing her Bachelor of Education degree at Stellenbosch University, she initially worked as a high school teacher after which she was appointed as a training facilitator at Ampath, a Pathology company, training phlebotomists. She taught mathematics and communication. It was here that Elda first realised her passion for tertiary training and especially working with students from different communities to make basic mathematics knowledge and communication skills a priority.

After moving to Auckland in 2019 she joined MIT, first as an Administrator, then as personal assistant to the General Manager and since May 2021 as lecturer.

Why I love MIT

I love that MIT’s values align with my own values of being excellent, connected and real, but most of all having a culture of manaakitanga. Other lecturers also embody manaakitanga and will really go the extra mile for tauira. MIT has such a diverse combination of tauira and lecturers, and everyone is welcomed.
