Community support in action at Manukau campus

Business Manukau: Heart of the South brought its popular Safer Plates community initiative to our Manukau campus earlier in the week, offering car owners the chance to have anti-theft screws fitted to their license plates.

It’s part of an initiative run by Business Manukau to make Manukau a safer place to work, shop, study and play.

Theft of license plates is the biggest vehicle crime across Aotearoa New Zealand, and Business Manukau’s free service replaces existing license plate screws with tamper proof ones which can only be removed with a special tool.

Alongside this, NZ Police offered a tool engraving service for our ākonga who have their own tools and want them to be clearly identified with personalised details. It’s been proven that tools with personalised markings are 50% less likely to be stolen than tools without any markings.
